Many engineering schools are incorporating entrepreneurship programs in their curriculum. Besterfield–Sacre along with other colleagues conducted a preliminary study of the programs of engineering schools in the United States. The main differences between the programs were the density of their offerings and Carnegie Classification. The study recommends that engineering colleges develop entrepreneurship programmes in partnership with industry. Entrepreneurship programs may help students create new business ideas.
